GOTCHA!

Maybe I won’t get blown up walking through Flinders St Railway Station tomorrow on my way to work after all.

Australian prosecutors have begun outlining what they say were planned attacks against citizens after police arrested 17 people on terrorism charges Tuesday in the nation’s two largest cities. Those arrested included a Muslim cleric accused of masterminding a cell dedicated to “violent jihad.”

So will those leftoids who’ve been pissing and moaning about the Prime Minister’s warning that an attack was being planned be apologising now?

[winds whistles, tumbleweed blows past]

Not only will they be no apologies, but a hardy few have decided to follow Democrats Senator Lyn Allison in formalising their divorce from reality by insisting that the successful foiling of a mass casualty terror attack is in reality nothing but a cynical political stunt, masterminded by the satanic Howard for the purpose of demonising Muslims so as to declare martial law and a Fascist Australian state.

“Given that the prime minister was criticised for there being no action, I suppose it’s not beyond the possibility that he would say to the state police commission(ers) ‘Well, you know, is there not a raid that could be taking place at this time to justify it?’” Senator Allison said.

“Well, I don’t know, that might be a bit unfair … I’m only speculating and some might be speculating that way.

“I’m not. I don’t have any information to suggest that.”

Bitch.

So let me see if I have this right. If the PM says nothing about a possible terror attack, that’s proof there is no threat and he’s just hoping no one realises he’s just trying to con us. If he does say something, then it’s a cynical ploy to terrify the Australian people into supporting laws which will strip us of all human rights and/or divert attention from the much more important industrial relations legislating.

And if, subsequent to him saying something about an imminent terror threat, police stage raids in Sydney and Melbourne, arrest people, and seze chemicals used in bombin making, then that’s obviously a set-up too?

Good lord, is there no end to John Howard’s duplicity and iron-fisted control over all organs of state security? Senator Allison clearly believes he’s a malevolent genius of some kind. Isn’t she afraid of waking up in a conceptration camp for political prisoners one day?

The alternative theory is that she’s an idiot, but I wouldn’t want to influence your decision in any way.

And as a footnote, I think the decision by one of the brave Jihadi warriors to shoot it out with the wallopers at a mosque might in retrospect best be described as “unwise”.

Police have shot and wounded a suspected terrorist after he allegedly opened fire at them outside a mosque in Sydney’s west this morning. The man, who was wearing a backpack, had been under surveillance by counter-terrorism officers in Green Valley just before 9am.

When police approached the suspect after he left the mosque in Wilson Rd, the man allegedly fired two shots - wounding an officer in the hand. Police returned fire, hitting the man in the neck with a single shot.

I think his condition is listed as “critical”. Meh, whatever.

And speaking of criticism, it seems certain people don’t appreciate media coverage. We’ve just had the 6pm News here in Australia, and they showed wild melees outside the court, in which supporters of the accused flailed away at the assembled camera crews. Also, in one of the Sydney suburbs where arrests took place, some of the locals took an equally robust approach to having a spotlight turned in their direction.

I predict further c ourt appearences as the demons review the video of the assaults. I mean, come on, you’re beating up camermen, while there are other cameras trained on you? Thank god we’re dealing with bogans, I shudder to think what things would be like if these people had a couple of brain cells to rub together.

Oh, and on a cheerful note, the plods reckon one suspect is still on the run.

Check out Tim Blair for a list of leftie Aussie bloggers responses. Trust me, it won’t take you long.

Can he run faster than a 7.62?

  2. JBB:

Bloody right TP, as a fellow Melbournian and one who uses public transport daily (im a uni student though ~ gasp!) the threat posed by the fascistic mass murderers is often at the back of my mind (the ease of getting onto a station down the line and taking it up without any obstruction is an unavoidable weak spot). The threat is ever present and I hope that more debate in the form of rational level headed cooperation and checks continues to marginalise the vile apologists and enablers extreme reflexive oppositions in future debate.

The usual bit with their legal representation of course, I fully expect to see Stephen Hopper and the like crawl out of the woodwork and onto the defence teams (and there are advantages to giving these creatures free trials ~ provided the laws are able to keep them locked away for a long time at the end). They were arguing about the ‘political motivations’ of the charges, of course this is the only logical course of action for defence when neither law or evidence is on side (but im sure that it will be layed out in good time).

And thank goodness they shot him in the neck, thats a bit of work that should keep the bastard occupied as the trials get underway and will hopefully leave him with a nasty feeling at the back of his throat for the rest of his incarcerated life..

  3. Alisa:

    You mean he is alive?

  4. Leftie:

Obviously you believe the man who has made a career about lieing. I’m surprised. Was the supposed intended attack a “core” or a “non-core” promise?

  5. Murray:

What the fuck are you on boy?

  6. Andrew Ian Dodge:

I just saw an Aussie reported being beaten up by Muslim youths outside the court in Sydney. Nothing more intelligent than beating someone up on camera. The Beeb declared it an example of how tensions had been raised with the arrests. Like a terrorist attack wouldn’t raise tensions any of course.

  7. -keith in mtn. view:

Congratulations, now hang them from a noose made of pig entrails. The blind Leftards see only politics in their mirror world.

  8. Murray:

So according to the Beeb we better not upset the Muslims by arresting terrorists and this fuckpig leftie is coming out with Howard lied and..err. Whats your angle idiot, Howard stanged the whole thing, he got some dickhead to shoot at the cops? He had some of his buds who just happen to be Muslim beat the crap out of some camera crews while being filmed?

Just how patheticly blind are these morons?

They want to kill people, wholesale slaughter the more the better with a preference for women and children. But arresting the killers “rasies tensions”?

Frankly I a little tense but myself but I’m not out assaulting people and no-one seems to be too worried about MY root causes.

Whats the key here? Should I be cutting peoples heads off? Torching cars? Shooting at cops? Throw me a bone here will you.

  9. Kiwi Bob:

In light of these events, what can one make of the last week’s story “Australia not under imminent threat of attack - Clark” (http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3465286a6160,00.html)?

In the story Clark says she was advised by Australian officials that there was no threat. Could it be that they were less than forthcoming with our PM? I wonder why that would be?

  10. Murray:

This would be more of the “benign strategic environment” she announced shortly before Sept 11?

  11. dee:

The ’suspect’ who shot it out with the cops was a part-time actor who appeared on the series ‘Home and away’ and in another series on SBS. This vindicates the things Sydney people have been saying for years - that the profits from the high level of crime carried out by ‘Men of Middle Eastern Appearance’ is funding terrorism, that these people hate Australia and Australians with a deep and visceral hatred. We see it every day. It isnt hard to recognise hatred.

Andrew: this behaviour is normal. We see it whenever a Muslim is accused of a serious crime. When the gang rapists were convicted, their families behaved in exactly the same way (like a pack of baboons). They called the victims sluts who deserved it (forgetting that, 5 minutes ago, they were screaming that their sons were all innocent and being set up by Sydney cops), they screamed at the prosecutor and called her a slut too, they attacked news reporters, etc etc. They are incapable of nehaving in a civilised fashion - the very reason why Muslim immigration should be halted.

  12. Murray:

    Or reversed.

  13. Old Fat Sailor:

Checking my flints, second sons get a pass-for now

  14. Alisa:

Murray, dear, what are your root causes?

  15. dee:

Obviously, Evil John H., ASIO and the Australian Federal cops have been planting WMDs in the houses of innocent Muslims in order to divert the attention of the public from the proposed IR laws. What else could it possibly be? Surely Muslims living among us couldnt be planning to destroy us? Arent they ‘just like us’? Isnt Islam the ‘religion of peace’? Oh, thats right, Islam has been ‘highjacked’ by rogue Muslims….

I saw a Muslim woman interviewed who proclaimed that, although she had not been brought up to be a racist (and we should take that one with agrain of salt), she intends to be racist from now on because we have ‘made’ her so. Presumably by arresting and charging a group of her fellow Muslims who were planning a terrorist attack. How dare we defend ourselves against our sworn enemies. How dare we offend Muslims by arresting terrorists. It was great to see the shellshocked looks - maybe they thought we intended to let them get away with it.

  16. Smith:

Sorry this comment is so late, but I’ve only just had the chance to read reactions to these arrests.

I’m just a little confused, does Australia still have the concept of people being innocent until they are proved guilty? Or does that go right out the window in these cases?

I mean, if these people really were planning to kill vast amounts of innocent people, then they deserve everything they get, but since most of the information about their plots come from that dreaded mainstream media, should they really be condemned without some actual, y’know, facts?

Hell, I’ve got some chemicals around my house that could be used to make bombs, I think Islam has just as many good points as bad and I’m building up a nice summer tan. Should I be worried?

  17. Wind Rider:

Smith, I’m wondering if you’d be so late to denounce the Oz Govt if a group of terrorists had actually carried through with a headline grabbing massive attack on a public place, with many, many casualities.

Well, on the bright side, ya always know where ya stand with the lefties…you’re WRONG!!!! no matter what you do, if they didn’t think of it first. And even then, your motives will be suspect…

  18. Wind Rider:

Oh, and Smith, care to enumerate on those ‘good’ points of Islam?

    Would it be the beheadings?

Would it be the subjugation of non-believers and the whole dhimmitude concept?

Or how about the stonings? I hear those are a real crowd pleaser!

Hmm, oh, I know, it’s the whole 72 raisins in paradise if you kill a bunch of infidels. Mmmm…raisins. Yummy.

  19. Smith:

    Yeah, raisins kick arse.

But no, there are some basic tenets of Islamic thought that are very positive. Shit, there HAS to be. I’m sorry, but I just can’t believe that everyone who follows that religion, and we’re talking about millions and millions of people, do so because they want to be dicks and chop people’s heads off. They do so because they genuinely believe that following that spiritual path makes the world a better place. There are, after all, many Muslims who DON’T follow the dhimmitude school of thought and actually manage to live quite peacefully with non-believers and respect other’s beliefs. It’s just a little too easy to tar everybody with the same brush.

I mean, it would be easy to think all Christians think the same way that somebody like Pat Robertson does, but the world is a lot more complicated than that.

But I’m not denouncing the Oz government for the arrests. Like I said, if these people are guilty, then they deserve the harshest of punishments. Like most Kiwis, I have family members in Australia who would be put at risk by such an attack and such an event would be truly tragic.

I just think that you can never, ever trust the very first reports of things like these arrests. I thought the people who populate this website were the last to trust anything that comes from media outlets, so it might be a good idea to have a bit more of an open mind until the full facts come in. And since that might be a long way off, it might be wise to withold calls for judgement.

I admit, I am a little prejudiced when it comes to believing what comes out of the mouths of police, as I have personally seen cases where officers are willing to destroy lives for their own petty needs and it is not until things have been thoroughly investigated by a truly independent source that the full story comes to light.

Again, I’m not denouncing all polcie, but you will always get those few who ruin it for the rest.

But don’t worry, Wind Rider, I’m not bound to either end of the political spectrum, so I really don’t care if “lefties” think I’m wrong.

  20. DaveJ:

“I’m just a little confused, does Australia still have the concept of people being innocent until they are proved guilty? Or does that go right out the window in these cases?”

They’ve only been arrested. People get arrested before the trial. The trail decides guilt or innocence. Nobody is assumed innocent and then proven guilty, if that was true nobody would be arrested. Arrests are an indication of guilt. Better to arrest people and take them to trial than have a trial and tell them the result when you arrest them.

  21. Smith:

Yeah, I figured that, DaveJ. It’s just with comments like:

“Congratulations, now hang them from a noose made of pig entrails.”

    and

“They want to kill people, wholesale slaughter the more the better with a preference for women and children. But arresting the killers “rasies tensionsâ€??”

made by commentators here just made me wonder if the trail is unnecessary, since many seem to have decided, on the meagre evidence that has been released so far, that these men are OBVIOUSLY guilty…

  22. Murray:

Well Smith while I accept the legal concept I’m going to have to say that we’re pretty much at a point where people should start worrying about OUR rooot causes.

I don’t think any of us serously want them lynched but we do feel a need to express our anger. Notice we don’t shoot at cops, beat up camera men and rape girls to do it.

Nonetheless we are really quite annoyed.

Their guilt or inocence will be established in court with due process.

  23. Old Fat Sailor:

Our common roots depite the different systems of justice (12 men tried and true etc.) may seem to some a liability when dealing with a belief system that places us at a lesser value but in the end I feel leaves us dealing from a position of strength. there may be “goodness” in Islam, I know Moslems that are not efvil and appaled by the actions taken in its name, but Islam is not on trial, terrorosts are!

I do not like the Patriot Act, The excesses of HUAC, Lincoln and others that have run roughshod over the Bill of Rights were, in the end, did more damage than benefit. The Bill of Rights ( and the equivilants in the Anglosphere) are the cornerstone of the culture the Whabists want so much to destroy, lets not do their job for them.

  24. dee:

Murray: “I don’t think any of us serously want them lynched ..”

There are probably more than a few Australians who wouldnt shed a tear if they were lynched. But it wont happen because people will restrain themselves. Thats the difference between us and them.

  25. Murray:

    And beer.

  26. Old Fat Sailor:

    Least we forget….
