Mike Huckabee has responded to Fred Thompson’s description of his record the only way he realistically can - by changing the discussion.

One of Huck’s first televised comments on the matter had him inferring that Thompson was constipated, and in a bad mood, in a joking fashion.

Better that than try to defend his record. He had to do something to stop people from paying attention to that.

Because he certainly isn’t in any position whatsoever, with that record, to sit down, look people in the eye, then explain exactly why he did what he did, then affirm that if he had it to do over again, he’d do the same - and that if he’s elected, it’s the type of action he’d take as president.

Well he could. But he wouldn’t have many republican supporters left after he finished doing it.

And come to think of it, Thompson didn’t even mention Huck’s “get out of jail free” policies…
