I suppose Silent Running needs some attention then does it?
As mentioned on the 9th we’ve been hit with a meme. Therefore, here’s the first 8 Rickobjectives that spring to mind right now..
1. Let Canterbury University be as awesome as I remember it and let me manage to make everything work out so I can go back to studying economics and philosophy there next month

2. Don’t lets go over-the-top over the demise of Sir Edmund Hillary. Yes, he was a great New Zealander (though a touch grumpy in his old age, I’ve noticed) who made a good example of his life. But I trust I don’t have to take seriously the notion that we’ll be having a new national holiday or renaming Mt Cook for him. Right? I hate official things like that. Please, no.
3. I will meet Ruth Richardson this year and have a good talk to her. I’m reading her book at the moment, “Making a Difference” and enjoying it. She has been where I want new-generation reformers to follow. I wonder if she’s scary as described in Michael Laws’ book, which I’ve also been reading, and as intelligent. I can’t imagine anybody being able to scare me or lose me intellectually though. Or don’t I get out enough? Perhaps she lives down the road from Kaiapoi a bit and is just messing around with sheep these days, waiting for someone to tell stories to? I want to find out.
4. I will put RickHQ back together. Last time I had a home it was in Melbourne. I need a place to park a big desk and a stereo and TV and a PC and Amiga 1200. If university works out, Christchurch. If I decide not go study, Auckland.
5. Lets have an early election. I hardly have to state that I want a change of government and that I intend to see the ACT Party (previously known also as the ACT Party of New Zealand..) swell to a new position of influence. This will happen. So let it happen sooner! Bring it!
6. Like Cr Aaron, let me conduct practical inquiries into the eventualities of meiosis.
7. Let me produce an animated film and a political podcast for this, the election year.
8. Let me get well stuck in to Total Freedom, which the author has kindly sent to me. It’s a book that takes my philosophy, Objectivism, to a very rigorous level. I have some doubt that I will agree with it, and that the book will be the end of my philosophy quest. But it’s a milestone that wants passing. Already read half of the book in various cities of various countries. Time to push on with that project.
There’s your eight.
Co-bloggers, feel free to chime in. It’s a meme.

Good to see Silent Running back in buisness.
More politics would be nice though.
Looking forward to seeing you next time you are in the big bad city.
All the best
