I was watching Hannity and Colmes last night. They were covering the vote on the troop withdrawal and every Democrat on the show said that Senator Murtha never called for an “immediate withdrawal” of our troops.
Well, you may find this surprising, but they were lying through their teeth. (link to Murtha’s press release)
Highlights:
I believe before the Iraqi elections, scheduled for mid December, the Iraqi people and the emerging government must be put on notice that the United States will immediately redeploy.
My plan calls:
To immediately redeploy U.S. troops consistent with the safety of U.S. forces.
Redeploy, withdraw… what is a little semantic gambling between friends huh? The Dems got their asses handed to them last night and I can’t stop laughing about it.

You know, that picture’s a perfect candidate for one of those little “your text here” webscripts…

on Meet The Press this weekend, Murtha claimed that the American officers serving in Iraq lied to him about how the war was going during his visit. How does he know they were lying? Apparently, he just “knows.” Champion of the troops my ass.

Murtha is a buffoon. He doesn’t write very well either.

As compared to the policy endorsed by a majority of Republican Senators last week of Cutting and Walking Quickly away from Iraq? After this vote, Sen. John Warner, the head of the Armed Services Comm., in effect said that the Administration had 120 days to start withdrawing troops from Iraq or Congress would do it for them. Given that the only thing less popular in the US right now then President Bush (35%) is the Iraq War (30%) and the polls that showed if the Nov. 2006 Congressional Elections were held today, the Democrats would have a majority in both the House of Reps. & the Senate: It is understandable that Republicans are prepared to follow the old rule that “when the water reaches the main deck, Gentlemen follow the rats”! Figure Congressional Republicans want to have US troop levels in Iraq down to under 100,000 by Nov. 2006 and all US troops, except perhaps for some advisors out by 2008. This may not save Iraq, but it might fulfill the higher purpose of Saving the Republican Majority in Congress!
