Let’s do some math in public.
Well, not really my math, just some numbers. Really more just laying some sod.
From the comments section (the only place for real information to appear, right Dave?) of this post -
Doesn’t anyone remember they promised to change the direction of the country during the 2006 campaign. It worked-*George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.*
*A little over one year ago
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high–14,000 +
5) Americans were buying new cars, taking cruises, vacations overseas, living large!But Americans wanted ‘CHANGE’! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes–we got ‘CHANGE’ all right.
In the PAST YEAR:
1) Consumer confidence has plummeted;
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!; [skipping the cite for this one - go drive by a gas station - ed]
3) Unemployment is up to5.5%6.1% (a10%big increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION and prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low – $2.5 TRILLION HAS EVAPORATED FROM
THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT PORTFOLIOS!YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED20FOR CHANGE…AND WE SURE GOT IT! ….*
REMEMBER THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.*
AND WHAT HAS CONGRESS DONE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.*

Ok, so it’s an uncredited package of data from a basically anonymous source that I haven’t exercised due diligence to confirm via other sources that I’m only starting to nail down with various citations I did some checking on, and provided links for various cites. Hey, I had to go take a bathroom break, ok?
Pretty much clears sails right over the MSM professionalism bar. But no way I’m putting on a tie.
Since numbers are numbers, of course, the first line of attack on this information is probably the “George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.” lines. Truth be told, no, the economy was not fine - more than willing to stipulate that point. Because with what we now know about how not fine the economy actually was, it also becomes apparent who was making the “hey, we’ve got a problem here” noises, and who was busy stoking the Titanic’s boilers to hasten the meeting with the iceberg. Here’s the real quick version -
Houston, we have a problem (Bush, McCain, other Republicans)
Onward to Utopia and, by the way, could you contribute a little towards…!!!! (Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Barack Obama (present!), Pelosi, Reid, et al)
Seems pretty clear cut. Add to that their continued attempts to wreck our energy prospects, seems there is one party that supports the concept of an America stuck on the side of the road with no place to live, no gas in the car, and not even loose change in its pockets. The Democrats. Yeah, they suck.
Thanks to Scrapiron for the information - if he remembers where he found it, or if anyone else recognizes the original source for the article, I’ll be more than happy to give credit where credit is due.
No liquidity problems in the blogosphere, folks. Speaking of which, be sure to pass this along, or ‘splash‘ it, if you will. . .a good lawn requires watering and attention!
