Don’t panic - Times Online got it WRONG | February 26th, 2006
BLONDES ARE GOING EXTINCT! BY 2202!
The statement in this Times Online article seemed ridiculous enough (but nonetheless unsettling) on first glance -
A study by the World Health Organisation found that natural blonds are likely to be extinct within 200 years because there are too few people carrying the blond gene. According to the WHO study, the last natural blond is likely to be born in Finland during 2202.
Yeah, yeah - yet another example of over-degreed numbskulls with some foolishly allocated grant monies letting statistical models run amok without necessary control factors. Big whoop.
But wait…it didn’t happen…this time. There is no such WHO study.
So, Roger Dobson and/or Abul Taher, call your editor’s office, and explain how you padded the word count with a graf that anyone with 15 seconds and Google could determine is rubbish…
