**Welcome Instapundit readers - feel free to look around while you’re here**
Just got a vist from the nice UPS fellow.
He dropped off my copy of this. Just put on some coffee, based on the first chapter, it’s a page turner, probably be my evening’s entertainment.
Well, except for 6 to 7. SG-1 on Sci-Fi.
Hey! Priorities, people!
::Update:: Well, at the half way point, I like it. But then again, I like Glenn’s writing style, and approach on a number of issues. Also, it’s all fairly familiar to someone that’s been reading Instapundit for a while.
In many respects, it’s Instapundit, The Movie. A bit more detail than he might zip off on a post, but without getting longwinded or mired in trivium, a comfortable and easy pace about it. Maybe it’s because it is wrtten in a very conversational style, and it’s easy to imagine I’m actually hearing Glenn’s voice saying it while I read it (and he’s talking really really fast).
While I haven’t found anything totally ‘new’ in the book, it’s an excellent distillation of the major points that Glenn visits regularly on his site, and would be an excellent ‘primer’ or ‘Cliffs Notes’ for someone that hasn’t been reading him for some time now. Good, solid, astute observations about the way that the world around us is changing - often in ways that may not have broken through to the level of realization for those just experiencing it on a daily basis without giving it much thought.
However, saying that the book has yet to reveal to me anything radically different from what I’ve gleaned from reading Glenn’s writings over the years is not to say that it’s simply like reading a ‘re-run’ - on the contrary, the book has a fresh edge about it, probably due to the difference in format, that makes it pleasantly engaging.
The only really odd thing about it is that there are no links! - but, there are numerous citations of the wonderful turns of phrase produced by bloggers, writing in the blogosphere.
Indeed.
